Michelin Starcross 5 Soft
The Michelin StarCross 5 Soft is a popular, lightweight motocross and off-road tyre designed for soft to mixed terrains like mud, sand, and loam. Thanks to a flexible, 15% lighter casing and special mud-clearing tread, it delivers incredible grip and smooth handling
Key Features:
Lightweight Casing: The tyre uses high-density materials that reduce unsprung weight (the weight of the parts not supported by the bike's suspension). This makes the bike easier to steer and improves acceleration and braking.
Self-Cleaning Design: The rear tyre features "mud-phobic bars" and horizontal ridges between the knobs, which flick out mud chunks before they can stick and build up.
Flexible Side Knobs: The knobs on the side of the tyre wrap around slightly, giving you better grip when you lean the bike over in corners and deep ruts.
Important Tips for Use
Tyre Pressure is Key: Because of the soft, flexible sidewall, you need to run these tyres at slightly higher pressures than usual to avoid pinch flats. Michelin generally recommends around 1.2 BAR (or about 13 to 15 psi).
Terrain Wear: While the soft tyre is highly versatile and works decently on hard-packed tracks, riding it hard on rocky or dry dirt for too long can cause the side knobs to wear out or chunk faster than the medium-compound version
